Getting startedOverview

Overview

Connect AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to your Imploy data.

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets AI assistants connect to Imploy. Once connected, you can ask an assistant about your organisation's data and, when allowed, have it make changes. For example, you can ask which clients have no shifts next week, or have it add a note to a client record.

Imploy runs an MCP server. You connect an assistant by giving it the Imploy MCP URL and signing in, or by using an access token that allows AI assistant access.

Assistant access follows Imploy permissions. An assistant can only see and change what the connected user or token is allowed to.

What you can do

The assistant uses the same tools that are available over the REST API. They cover these areas:

AreaIn short
ClientsSearch and view clients and notes, create and update clients
StaffSearch and view staff, create and update staff, staff leave
RosterShifts and metrics, services and sites, shift changes
FormsForms, submissions, create and publish forms
ReportsReport insights and dashboards
TasksTasks, charges and notes
IncidentsIncidents, notes and parties
ProspectsProspects, notes and files
FinanceClient charge metrics

See Tools for more, and the Access Tokens endpoints for the full per-area detail.

How connections work

There are two ways to connect:

  • Sign in with Imploy. The assistant opens a browser, you sign in and approve. The connection then acts as you, with your role's permissions. The organisation owner controls whether this is allowed, and can revoke any connection.
  • Access token. You create an access token with AI assistant access turned on, and the assistant uses it. The connection acts as the organisation owner, limited to the token's permission areas.
